PREFACE

THE coins to be found in this collection have been acquired over
a number of years from many different sources. The tickets
originally with the coins name almost all the world’s leading
dealers and auction rooms. Many of the coins were purchased
from collections sent in for sale at Messrs. Glendinings and
catalogued by the present cataloguer. It is always a pleasure
to handle such fine coins and to know that other collectors will
have an opportunity of adding to their special series.

To review all the rarer coins is unnecessary—a glance at the
plates will readily show that here is a collection to be studied.

The German series is one of the most extensive to be offered in
recent years, and the silver coins of this series, together with the
other European silver coins, will be offered in an October auction
sale.

It is hoped that the American and Asian portion of the
collection will be ready at the end of this year or early next year.

PRICED CATALOGUES

Coins

FTER each sale these catalogues are
& issued with the prices realised printed
in the margin opposite each lot, thus giving
at a glance a reliable guide to values.

The final test of value must always be
auction prices rather than the figures given
in books of reference for changing times
and fashions soon render the latter obsolete

and misleading.

On the average we issue twelve Coin cata-
logues a year, some of which are usually
of sales of important collections. The
priced catalogues are posted to sub-
scribers as soon as ready. usually about
three weeks after the date of sale and the

subscription is

THIRTY SHILLINGS per annum

Commencing from Ist January
